Reagan plea: Don’t invade

RONALD Reagan made a last-ditch appeal to Margaret Thatcher to end the Falklands War as Britain was close to taking the islands.

The US President urged Mrs Thatcher not to humiliate Argentina. But she told him that Britain had not “lost precious lives in battle to hand over the Queen’s islands”.

It also emerged that Libyan tyrant Colonel Gaddafi supplied Argentina with deadly missiles during the war that were secretly flown into Brazil.
