Delighted Harry Wilson, 11, appears alongside the troublemaker for a cycling adventure in the comic’s latest edition.

The lad was given the opportunity as a National Trust Kids’ Council member and cycling ambassador.

Harry, of Bristol, said: “I was so excited when I heard. I haven’t been able to tell any of my friends and it has been so hard to keep it a secret.

“They all love The Beano so I think they will be very jealous.”

In the iconic comic, Harry leads a bike ride along winding pathways in Wimpole, Cambs.

Parents Andy and Julia — who kept the news a secret for months — finally spilled the beans a week ago.

His proud mum said: “When I told him he was shrieking and bouncing around the kitchen.

“When he saw he was with Dennis the Menace he was thrilled to bits.”

The comic strip is based on one of the National Trust’s “50 things to do before you’re 11” — aimed at encouraging kids to play outdoors.

National Trust’s Bristol boss Anna Russell said: “It’s great to have the support from Harry and The Beano in showing children how much fun they can have outdoors.”
