A RARE Porsche TRACTOR with a top speed of just 15mph is tipped to fetch more than £18,000 at auction.
The two-ton 1958 Diesel Super 308 Traktor has 38 horsepower, against 553 for the firm’s fastest car, the Porsche 911 Turbo S.
It also takes a minute to reach its top speed despite having a three-cylinder, air-cooled 2,625cc engine.
But the red model, in agricultural service for decades, boasts a sleek design as well as the German manufacturer’s system for smooth gear changes without a clutch.
Porsche built more than 125,000 tractors between 1956 and 1963, before launching the iconic 911.
A collector purchased the Super 308 five years ago after it underwent a full restoration in 2003.
It will be sold by auctioneer Bonhams next month at Beaulieu Motor Museum, Hants.
Bonhams’ motoring expert John Polson said: “This tractor is probably the slowest vehicle Porsche ever made.
“But it’s a real collector’s item and the quality is just as you’d expect from them.
“It has been lovingly restored and we expect there to be a lot of interest.”
