A SCHOOLGIRL has been banned from lessons — for refusing to remove a nose stud.
Jesika Thompson, 14, had worn it without complaint for a year.
But she was tackled by a teacher who demanded she take it out as it was a “health hazard”.
Jesika, of Northern Moor, Gtr Manchester, was made to work on her own for four hours at Loreto High School in Chorlton.
When she returned to school with mum Florence Robinson the next day, she was told the lesson ban would continue.
Outraged Florence said: “Lots of children have nose studs but they have only picked on my child.
“The new head has decided to change the rules, but if there is a rule it should be applied to everyone.”
Headteacher Peter Tite — who took over the role two weeks ago — said: “We do not bend the rules for anyone.
“Every child with the exception of Jesika has handed it over when requested.”
But Jesika, who is studying GCSEs including geography and Spanish, said: “It’s not a health hazard.
“It’s really small — the size of a pin head. I have been wearing it for a year without any problems.”
